Responsive website re-design for Hanwell House

Website re-design for Hanwell House

Hanwell House bed and breakfast in Banbury came to me in search of a website redesign of the existing static HTML/CSS website. They had the website design created by a friend back in 2008 but realised that the web has come on leaps and bounds since 2008.

They have updated the website through a number of external sources over the years and requested a content management system for the new website after becoming fed up of expensive update costs.

Hanwell House bed and breakfast as a fantastic location and beautiful facilities. The historic website didn’t showcase this enough. I was keen to use big imagery to showcase the main 3 guest rooms, the garden, the bathrooms and lovely surroundings of north Oxfordshire.

Booking is the main objective for visitors on the site so we wanted to make this as easy a possible. I positined a ‘Book Now’ button top right of the design, consistent on all pages of the website. I also used large red call to action buttons throughout the web design to encourage users to click through to the booking page and to check availability.

Throughout the project I worked closely with Queensborough Group who specialise in booking software for hotels in the UK. As Hanwell House were used to using the booking tool and were happy with the service we worked the existing system into the new design.

It’s a responsive design too!

After looking at the Google Analytics of Jan’s site we recognised that there was a number of vistors that visit the website from mobile devices. That said, I decided that migrating from HTML/CSS to the WordPress CMS with a responsive design was the best solution for Hanwell House.

Now visitors can browse the website at ease on any mobile device and there are no extra costs for Hanwell House to have a ‘mobile only’ website (at more cost!!) running side by side with the main website.
